First Retightening - New Trainee

I am due for my first full retightening so I thought I'd take at least one picture in order to compare before and after shots. I must say I've been enjoying the short 'do very much!! It's just so funky and free - I can't take it!! :) My big news is that I decided to take the four day training class this past weekend here in Charlotte. That's right - this "newbie's" a Sisterlocks trainee!! I met a lot of wonderful women including Dr. Cornwell, and spent more quality time with my own trainee who took the class as a refresher. It was a very special long weekend. Go Sisterlocked sisters!! Well, tomorrow's another day. I have to say goodbye to my beloved center part - Connie has said "Girl, it's got to go." (Yes, I have LOVED my center part - strange but true). Looking forward to a new style. In the meantime, I need to see about minding my business at home as a new trainee. If anyone in the Charlotte area is looking for a new installation or retightenings, I am offering Special Introductory Rates until I become certified. Feel free to email me at bornfreestyle@gmail.com. Wish me luck!!

Just Locked!

Hooray! I had sisterlocks installed by an absolutely wonderful trainee, Ms. Connie Austin. The process was done in multiple sittings over a period of 10 days (last of which was August 10, 2008) and in spite of the process, I don't mind saying I think the results are nothing short of spectacular! Connie did an awesome job. She was EXTREMELY dedicated to doing it just right; I have never met anyone so passionate about their craft. We spent several hours on parting alone, so that just tells you how meticulous this lady is. I started with an afro that was just long enough to get sisterlocks. Now when I wake up in the morning, I have what looks like pincurls all over my head and I adore them!! My plan is to freestyle and avoid color. Looking forward to every stage!
